NUCLEAR ENERGY ACT: NON-PROLIFERATION REGULATIONS GAZETTED AND IN FORCE

The Department of Mineral Resources & Energy has gazetted regulations under the Nuclear Energy Act with the aim of facilitating the non-proliferation of nuclear material. Immediately in force, they include record-keeping and reporting obligations; nuclear material measurement and related control requirements; and stockpiling, importing and exporting application and authorisation procedures. Provision is made for exemptions.

The regulations were published in the eGazette at approximately 16:00 on Friday, 10 March 2023, when they presumably came into effect.
