OCCUPATIONAL INJURIES & DISEASES: MORE REGULATORY AMENDMENTS GAZETTED, IN FORCE

The Department of Employment & Labour has gazetted four sets of amendments to regulations under the 1993 Compensation for Occupational Injuries & Diseases Act (COIDA). Immediately in force, the changes give practical effect to certain provisions of the 2022 Compensation for Occupational Injuries & Diseases Amendment Act, with implications for:
- ‘the period of prescription of claims’
- inspection compliance and enforcement
- rehabilitation, reintegration and return to work, and
- third parties transacting with the Compensation Fund
This is noting that most sections of the 2022 Amendment Act commenced in January 2026, as SA Legal Academy reported at the time.
