ONE-STOP BORDER POST: DRAFT BILL GAZETTED FOR COMMENT

The Department of Home Affairs has gazetted a draft One-Stop Border Post Bill, calling for public comments by 30 June 2023.

Among other things the draft Bill seeks to:

  • provide for the establishment of common control zones in the territory of an adjoining state by way of an international agreement
  • ensure that each international agreement includes one-stop border processing arrangements, and
  • authorise the application of South African laws and those of the adjoining state in each one-stop border post.
