The Department of Forestry, Fisheries & the Environment has gazetted packaging design guidelines intended, among other things, to promote a sounder understanding of:
- the environmental implications of packaging design decisions (including selecting primary and secondary materials and additives)
- the circular economy (requiring efficient, balanced resource use in all production patterns), and
- combinations of packaging and print materials, as well as additives, that facilitate recycling and waste prevention.
