PERSISTENT ORGANIC POLLUTANT REGULATIONS: INPUT SOUGHT ON DRAFT AMENDMENTS

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries & the Environment has called for comments by 22 April 2023 on proposed amendments to regulations issued in September 2019 and May 2021 under the National Environmental Management Act, 1998.

Both sets of regulations deal with the production, distribution, export, import, sale and use of persistent organic pollutants. However, the September 2019 regulations focus on phasing them out, while the May 2021 regulations prohibit their use in keeping with the requirements of the Stockholm Convention.
