Action SA’s Alan Beesley has gazetted a notice announcing his intention to table a Remuneration of Public Office Bearers Amendment Bill, and calling for public comment on the proposals concerned. The deadline for input is 12 April 2025.
According to the notice, the proposed new piece of legislation will seek to provide for ‘proper controls and transparency’ in the allocation of benefits, tools of trade and allowances to the President, Deputy President, Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
This is noting that a Bill with the same title and objectives was introduced in January 2023 by the DA’s Leon Schreiber but lapsed when Parliament rose for the May 2024 elections and was not revived.
