PRIVATE SECURITY INDUSTRY: INPUT SOUGHT ON TWO SETS OF DRAFT REGULATIONS

The Department of Police has called for input by 28 February 2025 on two sets of draft regulations affecting the private security industry. One focuses on the requirements and standards to be met when supplying the industry with working animals, training these animals and using them. The other deals with assets in transit.

The draft regulations on working animals include general care obligations applicable to all industry stakeholders keeping and working with dogs and horses.

Once in force, the proposed new regulations on assets in transit are expected not only to ‘ensure the safe and secure movement of assets’ but also to facilitate the maintenance of a safe working environment for the personnel involved.
