PUBLIC SECTOR ACCOUNTING STANDARDS: 2nd CALL FOR INPUT ON DRAFT REGULATIONS

National Treasury has reissued a Government Gazette notice calling for comments on draft regulations giving effect to four generally recognised accounting practices for public sector institutions and entities. The draft regulations were first gazetted in October 2024, as SA Legal Academy reported at the time. It is not clear if they have since been revised. Whatever the case, the deadline for input is now 15 December 2024.

The draft regulations have implications for:

  • the presentation of financial statements
  • heritage assets
  • mergers, and
  • the transfer of functions between entities:
    • under common control, and
    • not under common control.
