PUBLIC SECTOR: INPUT SOUGHT ON MISCONDUCT CENTRAL REGISTER REGULATIONS

The Department of Public Service & Administration intends establishing a central registry in which information about public servants alleged or found to have ‘committed misconduct’ will be recorded. It is proposed that the registry should include the details of public servants who:

  • were dismissed following a disciplinary hearing, or
  • resigned after a disciplinary hearing, or
  • resigned before a disciplinary hearing was conducted.

Once finalised and in force, the regulations will make it mandatory for the heads of public institutions to record all such incidents in the central register and refer to it during any recruitment process.

The deadline for submissions in 23 February 2025.
