The National Assembly and NCOP Committees on Appropriation have issued a joint notice calling for written submissions by 8 March 2024 on the Second Adjustments (2023/24 Financial Year) Appropriation Bill and this year’s Division of Revenue Bill. This is in anticipation of joint parliamentary hearings on 13 March 2024.
Tabled with the 2024/25 Budget, the Second Adjustments (2023/24 Financial Year) Appropriation Bill provides for additional appropriations by Parliament of money from the National Revenue Fund for the requirements of the state in the 2023/24 financial year. It responds to developments since the Adjustments Appropriation Bill was tabled on 1 November 2023 with the Medium Term Budget Policy statement. Parliament passed that particular Bill on 8 December 2023 and it came into force two weeks later.
The Division of Revenue Bill was also tabled with the 2024/25 Budget and provides for the equitable division of revenue raised nationally among the national, provincial and local spheres of government for the 2024/25 financial year.
