SMALL ENTERPRISE AMENDMENT BILL: PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE CALLS FOR SUBMISSIONS

Please note: On 18 October 2023, a notice calling for submissions was posted on Parliament's website. 

The National Assembly’s Small Business Development Committee has issued a media statement calling for written submissions on the National Small Enterprise Amendment Bill in anticipation of parliamentary hearings. The deadline for input has been set at 31 October 2023.

Tabled in June 2023, the Bill seeks to:

  • provide for the establishment of a small enterprise ombud service
  • empower the Minister to:
    • declare and prohibit unfair trading practices in relation to small enterprises, and
    • set criteria to determine the classification of micro, small and medium enterprises, and
  • integrate financial and non-financial government support for small enterprises into a single agency.
