SUPREME COURT, HIGH COURT AND MAGISTRATES’ COURTS RULES AMENDED, IN FORCE SOON

The Rules Board for Courts of Law has gazetted amendments to the Supreme Court, High Court, and Magistrates’ Courts rules. Backdated to 12 May 2023, they were published as eGazettes three days later and will come into force on 19 June 2023

  • Amendments to the Supreme Court rules focus on attorneys’ fees.
  • Among other things, amendments to the High Court rules have implications for:
    • expert opinion summaries
    • interdicts against immovable property, and
    • tariffs and fees.
  • Amendments to the Magistrates’ Courts rules affect:
    • subpoenas, and
    • tariffs and fees
