TARGETED FINANCIAL SANCTIONS: INPUT SOUGHT ON DRAFT GUIDELINES

Please note: On 8 December 2023, the Financial Intelligence Centre issued a notice extending the deadline for comment to 31 January 2024.

The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) has called for input by 11 January 2024 on draft guidelines intended to assist accountable institutions in their efforts to comply with targeted financial sanctions obligations under the FIC Act, 2001– as informed by related UN Security Council resolutions.

Underpinned by a risk-based approach to combating terrorist financing and terrorism proliferation financing, the document focuses on areas of concern highlighted in the 2019 international Financial Action Task Force (FATF) mutual evaluation report.

This is according to an accompanying consultation note.
