TAX BILLS LEAVE PARLIAMENT

Parliamentary papers have confirmed that the 2023/24 tax Bills have been passed by the NCOP and sent to the President for signature. However, they were considered and adopted on 7 December 2023 as the order paper for that day indicates – not 5 December 2023.

Giving effect to proposals in the 2023 Budget and tabled with the Medium Term Budget Policy Statement, each Bill was the focus of a robust public participation process begun with calls from National Treasury for input on its draft version. The draft Bills were then revised, subjected to parliamentary hearings and revised again before being formally introduced in Parliament, when more hearings were held.
