TAXATION: FINAL OPPORTUNITY FOR INPUT ON 2025/26 BILLS

In anticipation of parliamentary hearings on 3 February 2026, the NCOP’s Finance Committee has called for written submissions on the 2025/26 Taxation Laws Amendment Bill, Tax Administration Laws Amendment Bill and Rates & Monetary Amounts & Amendment of Revenue Laws Bill. The deadline for input is 21 January 2026.

This marks the final step in the process of finalising and passing legislation intended to give practical effect to proposals in the 2025/26 Budget – itself subjected to delays following the withdrawal of a planned VAT increase. Normally, the annual passage of such Bills through Parliament has been concluded well before the festive season recess.

SA Legal Academy has regularly reported on the contents of these Bills. However, the committee notice calling for submissions includes a list of key proposals in each one.
