TEMPORARY EMPLOYER-EMPLOYEE RELIEF SCHEME (TERS) UPDATE

The Temporary Employer-Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic ‘will continue to provide support to distressed companies … seek(ing) to retain their employees’. This is according to a Department of Employment & Labour media statement on Minister Thulas Nxesi’s 2023/4 budget vote speech.

The scheme is now administered through the Council for Conciliation, Mediation & Arbitration.

Two days after being delivered during a National Assembly mini plenary session, the speech itself was still not available.
