The Department of Transport has gazetted amendments to regulations under the 1951 Merchant Shipping Act and 1981 Marine Traffic Act, along with an amended schedule to the Merchant Shipping Act.
Immediately effective, amendments to the merchant shipping regulations repeal and replace those governing crew accommodation published in 1961.
The Merchant Shipping Act’s second schedule (1948 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea) has been replaced with the consolidated text of the 1974 Convention – in force since 1980.
Amendments to regulations under the Marine Traffic Act in place since 1985 are largely technical and immediately effective.
