The Department of Forestry, Fisheries & the Environment has gazetted regulations on the procedures to be followed when required by the Minister to apply for a waste management licence under sub-sections 80(4) and 81(2) as well as section 82 of the 2008 National Environmental Management: Waste Act.
Together, these provisions deal with transitional arrangements affecting waste disposal facilities established before the 1989 Environment Conservation Act came into force, as well as the holders of permits issued under that statute. This is noting that most sections of the 1989 Act were superseded by the 2008 statute when it came fully into force in 2014 (some sections having commenced in 2009).
