WASTE STREAM MANAGEMENT: INPUT SOUGHT ON BENEFICIAL USE PROPOSALS

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries & the Environment has gazetted a notice calling for input by 12 August 2023 on risk assessment and management plans for the beneficial use of certain waste streams.
A public commentary period is one of several steps taken during the process of considering whether a waste stream of part of it should be excluded from the definition of waste so that it may then be used beneficially.
According to a department official, the risk assessment and management plans themselves are expected to be available shortly on the South African Waste Information Centre (SAWIC) website.
