WASTE TO LANDFILL: INPUT SOUGHT ON DRAFT AMENDMENTS TO ASSESSMENT & DISPOSAL NORMS & STANDARDS

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries & the Environment has gazetted draft amendments to norms and standards for waste to landfill assessment and disposal in force since August 2013. The deadline for comments on each set of proposed amendments has been set at 23 April 2023.
The proposed amendments to norms and standards for waste assessment refer to a South African Waste information Centre (SAWIC) guideline on sampling and analysing wastewater, soil and waste. Unfortunately, at the time of writing the link provided was not working. According to a Department of Forestry, Fisheries & the Environment official, the SAWIC site is only open to registered activity users.
