YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AGENCY: INPUT SOUGHT ON AMENDMENT BILL

The National Assembly Committee on Women, Youth & Persons with Disabilities has called for input by 6 June 2023 on a National Youth Development Agency Amendment Bill tabled in Parliament nearly ten months ago.

Focusing on governance and administrative issues, the proposed new piece of legislation falls far short of proposals in a draft Bill released in 2021 for public comment. At the time, one of its objectives was to maximise the impact of existing services.

The committee was briefed on the Bill in November 2022. During the remainder of the year, gender -related issues apparently required a great deal of attention. Of the 40 meetings held, 18 focused on gender, eight on youth-related matters and seven on issues affecting people living with disabilities.
