CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM INQUIRY: MADLANGA COMMISSION REPORTING DEADLINES CLARIFIED

The Department of Justice & Constitutional Development has gazetted a presidential proclamation clarifying the timeframes within which the criminal justice system Madlanga Commission of Inquiry is expected to finalise its interim and final reports.
Amending the Commission’s July 2025 terms of reference, the proclamation makes ‘17 September 2025 or such extended period as the President may determine’ the date marking the beginning of:
- the three-month period within which the Commission should complete its interim report, and
- the six-month period within which the Commission should complete its final report.
