The Financial Intelligence Centre has called for input by 27 March 2026 on a draft compliance communication intended to provide guidance to accountable institutions on registering head office, subsidiary and branch geolocation information. The document should be read with a draft directive released in December 2025 for comment, on which SA Legal Academy reported at the time.
According to the draft communication, its intention is to clarify the status of branches and subsidiaries, which do not constitute new accountable institutions in addition to the head office of the accountable institution concerned.
Once finalised, it will update and replace Compliance Communication 5D, which was issued in October 2023.
